Science Fair 2019
Science learning has been under the microscope, with budding scientists showcasing their well-researched entries for this year’s science fair competition to the rest of the school. Congratulations to them all on delivering clearly explained demonstrations and accounts of all their learning. They gave excellent explanations on a range of topics they had chosen to research from the functions of the different parts of the brain to what happens to an egg when you immerse it in vinegar for a few days. Four entries have been selected to represent Two Gates at the Rawlett School Science Fair. • Mia and Liliana’s research into the work and inventions of the Afro-American scientist Garret Morgan who invented the gas mask, the there –way traffic light and the hair straighteners • Amelia and Sam’s learning about how the work of American marine biologist and environmentalist Rachel Carson has inspired their family not to use chemicals in their allotment. • Sam’s photography inspired research into how the pinhole camera works. • Lily‘s research into how lenses work because she wears glasses. Thank you to the parents and families who supported the children with their projects at home and to those who also came to our fair.
