FLAGSHIP SCHOOL FOR INCLUSION
Two Gates is a Flagship school for inclusion, holding the prestigious international Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM).
The Inclusion Quality Mark has eight elements against which the school is assessed. These deal with inclusion in its widest sense and in all aspects of school life. The eight elements are all practical parts of the life of a school.
Element 1 -The Inclusion Values of the School.
Element 2 – Learning Environment, Resources and ICT.
Element 3 – Learner Attitudes, Values and Personal Development.
Element 4 – Learner Progress and the Impact on Learning.
Element 5 – Learning and Teaching.
Element 6 – Parents, Carers and Guardians.
Element 7 – Governors, Management and External Accountability.
Element 8 – The School in the Community.
In order to achieve the IQM we have to demonstrate consistently that everyone in our school has an open, honest and humane approach to the needs of the whole school community. We are very self-aware, through review, quality assurance and good knowledge of school data. Everyone actively seeks maximum success for each and every learner. We focus on the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning. Our school is very well ordered and organised at different levels, with a clearly stated development and improvement agenda. We have an enthusiastic, supportive staff team who are united in progressing the learning agenda. Our pupils are well motivated. There are very good relationships on every level - between colleagues, with parents and among the children. Parents, Governors and outside agencies are able to provide broader support, but also appropriate challenge.
This is what the IQM Assessor reported about Two Gates on a recent visit:
This school is like a TARDIS! Nothing is quite what it seems…or that you expect…or stays the same! Two Gates bravely goes where no one has gone before! Rooms and designations are fluid and totally match the ever changing learning needs of the children here. There is that humbling creative energy to be constantly accountable to each and every child while at the same time, ensuring the existence of a rigorous and profound safety net of structures and systems. The school is unreservedly reaching out to extend warmth and welcome and to give a sense of belonging.
